Marco is a materials scientist with experience in interdisciplinary projects at the crossroads between physics, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, and data science. He develops predictive modeling techniques based on first principles numerical simulations to help understand and design advanced materials for renewable energy, water, and quantum information technologies.
Marco is an research scientist in the Materials Science Division and Center for Molecular Engineering at Argonne National Laboratory. He is recipient of a DOE Early Career Award. He graduated in Physics and obtained his PhD in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Supercomputing Application and Innovation Department of CINECA, at the Department of Chemistry of the University of California Davis, and at the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering.
